Azerbaijan's ASCO implementing major projects in dev't of int'l trade, transit

Chairman of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO) CJSC Rauf Valiyev informed about the implementation of large projects in the field of international trade development and transit expansion during a meeting with delegations from Turkey and Uzbekistan, the ASCO told Trend.

Valiyev informed the delegation in detail about the projects in which the shipping company participates and plans to participate in the future.

“Along with maritime cargo transportation, we provide shipping services in the oil and gas sector. In addition, in order to develop international trade and further expand transit opportunities, large-scale projects are being implemented,” added the chairman.

He also noted that the ASCO is ready to cooperate with the Turkic-speaking states for cargo transportation through the Caspian Sea and to contribute to the development of this sphere.

In turn, the members of the delegation from Turkey and Uzbekistan noted the expansion of cooperation between the Turkic-speaking states, an increase in transit traffic, an increase in the exchange of information and a number of other prospects.

Following the meeting, the participants were familiarized with the interactive corner ‘Victory’, dedicated to the 44-day Armenia-Azerbaijan Second Karabakh War took place from late Sept. to early Nov. 2020, and the ‘Martyrs of Three Centuries’ Museum, reflecting the history of ASCO.

The meeting was attended by ASCO Chairman Rauf Valiyev, Deputy Secretaries-General of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States Gismat Gozalov and Mirvohid Azimov, Deputy Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan Abdusamat Muminov, representatives of customs and transport structures of this country, Executive President of Turkey's International Freight Forwarders Association (UND), Alper Ozel.
