Cargo movement in Iran’s Khorramshahr port soars

The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Khorramshahr port of the Khuzestan Province (southwestern Iran) increased by about 14 percent in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 through March 19, 2020), Trend reports citing the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, about 3.2 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the Khorramshahr port last year. Of this, about 3.03 million tons were loaded and 160,000 tons were unloaded.

“Over the last year, about 3.02 million tons of cargo were exported and 155,000 tons were imported through the Khorramshahr port.

In addition, 4,520 tons of cargo were unloaded for transit in the port during the reporting period, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, 7,220 tons of cargo were loaded and 86 tons were unloaded for other purposes,” the statistics said.

“So, 69,300 tons of essential products, 320,000 tons of metal products, 2.61 million tons of construction and mining materials, 20,600 tons of equipment, vehicles and spare parts, 12,400 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded in the Khorramshahr port last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

Moreover, 8,000 tons of leather goods, clothing, fibers, paper and wood materials, 170 tons of small and assorted products, 141,000 tons of container products, 4 tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in the port.

Reportedly, a total of 123 million tons of goods were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports last Iranian year. This is a decrease of 18.1 percent compared to the preceding year. So, 150 million tons of goods were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the preceding year.
