Cargo movements in Iran’s Anzali port soar

The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Anzali port of the Gilan Province (northern Iran) increased by 33 percent in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 through March 19, 2020), Trend reports citing the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, a total of 1.38 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the port over the last Iranian year. Of this, 237,000 tons were loaded and 1.14 million tons were unloaded.

"In addition, 227,000 tons of cargo were exported and 1.13 million tons were imported through the Anzali port last Iranian year," the statistics said.

During the last year, 6,900 tons of cargo were loaded and 8,440 tons were unloaded in this port for transit. As well as, 2,640 tons of cargo were loaded and 4,290 tons were unloaded for other purposes, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, 879,000 tons of essential products, 7,090 tons of metal products, 79,100 tons of construction and mining materials, 15,200 tons of equipment, vehicles and spare parts were loaded and unloaded in the Anzali port within last Iranian year.

"Moreover, 42,800 tons of chemicals, 279,000 tons of leather products, clothing, fibers, paper and wood materials, 1,160 tons of small and assorted products, 68,500 tons of container products and 959,000 tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in the port last Iranian year," the statistics said.

Reportedly, a total of 123 million tons of goods were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports last Iranian year. This is a decrease of 18.1 percent compared to the preceding year. So, 150 million tons of goods were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the preceding year.
