Activities of western ports of Iran's Hormozgan Province announced

About 5.35 million tons of goods were loaded and unloaded in the western ports of the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), Director of Ports and Maritime Office of Bandar Lengeh port Ghasem Askari Nasab said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

Askari Nasab noted that the volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the western ports of Hormozgan Province increased by 35 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 through March 19, 2020).

The director added that 2.5 million tons of crude oil and oil products were exported through these ports. As well as, 2.84 million tons of non-oil products, including fruits and vegetables, mining and construction materials were exported to countries around the Persian Gulf.

“A number of steps were taken to increase the activities of small ports in the west of Hormozgan Province over the last Iranian year. Despite US sanctions and the spread of coronavirus pandemic, activities have increased in the several ports of the province such as Chark, Aftab, Bandar Lengeh ports,” he said.

As reported, the coasts from Iran's Bandar Khamir port to Bushehr Province is under the control of the West Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Department and the length of the coasts is about 575 kilometers. Also, West Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Department is managed by Ports and Maritime Office of Bandar Lengeh port.

A total of 123 million tons of goods were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports last Iranian year. This is a decrease of 18.1 percent compared to the preceding year. So, 150 million tons of goods were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the preceding year.
