Cargo movements in Iran's Genaveh port decline

The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Genaveh port of the Bushehr Province (southern Iran) decreased by 25 percent in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020, through March 20, 2021), compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019, through March 19, 2020), Trend reports citing the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, about 84,000 tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the port over last Iranian year. So, more than 21,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 63,000 tons were unloaded.

“Furthermore, 929 tons of cargo were exported and 3,410 tons were imported through the Genaveh port last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

During last year, 19,800 tons of cargo were loaded and 18,900 tons were unloaded in the port for cabotage, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, 18,700 tons of cargo were unloaded in the Genaveh port within the last Iranian year for transshipment, as well as, 299 tons of cargo were loaded and 22 tons were unloaded for other purposes.

“So, 50 tons of essential products, 23 tons of equipment, vehicles, spare parts, 63,700 tons of small and assorted products, and 20,300 tons of containers were loaded and unloaded in the Genaveh port last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

Reportedly, a total of 123 million tons of goods were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports last Iranian year. This is a decrease of 18.1 percent compared to the preceding year. So, 150 million tons of goods were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the preceding year.
