Georgia is a valuable partner for Bulgaria in the framework of our regional cooperation within the Black Sea Region as well as within the EU Neighbourhood policy, the Bulgarian Ministry of transport, information technologies and communications told Trend.
"From transport sector perspective, we recognize the potential that Georgian ports present for development of efficient and sustainable connections," the ministry said.
In wider scope, the development of modern and high quality infrastructure in Georgia could contribute to Bulgaria's goals for attracting transit traffic from Central and Far East Asia, the source noted.
"Having in mind that, the infrastructure routes that are included in the Trans-European Transport Network are of a great importance for us. In addition, the existing bilateral and multilateral agreements contribute to the facilitation of the establishment of maritime and ferry links," the ministry said.
According to the ministry, as a key transportation mode for import and export, the maritime sector in Georgia poses a great potential for establishment of efficient and sustainable connections between the Republic of Bulgaria, as a Member State of the European Union, and Georgia.
