Furthermore, this week the Azerbaijan International Road Carriers Association held the online meeting with the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) and the Turkish TOBBUND Lojistik Yatirim AS company.

During the meeting the parties discussed the possibilities of creating more favorable conditions for carriers, issues related to the more efficient organization of international road transport from Azerbaijan through Turkey to the EU countries and in the opposite direction.

It was also reported this week that within Azerbaijani-Belarusian cooperation Azerbaijan’s Ganja Automobile Plant plans to assemble more than 1,200 tractors of Belarus in 2021 with the further perspective to export them to Turkey.

In March of this year an agreement for the supply of 450 tractor components was signed between the two countries. It’s also planned to sign a contract for getting 550 more tractor components.

Since 2007, the Ganja Automobile Plant has assembled more than 11,500 tractors of Belarus, as well as about 3,500 pieces of MAZ, AMKODOR, Belkommunmash, and Gomselmash equipment.

Besides, this week a meeting was held in Baku between Azerbaijan’s Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Rashad Nabiyev and Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladislav Krikli.

The parties discussed the importance of strengthening joint measures to expand cooperation within the framework of such international organizations and initiatives as the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development (GUAM) and the Transport Corridor Europe-the Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA)

Prospects for the development of cooperation between the countries in the field of road and air transport, as well as international multimodal cargo transportation were also discussed between the ministers.

In conclusion, it’s necessary to emphasize the special importance of the transit potential of Azerbaijan in connection with the restoration of the Zangazur corridor, which will provide growth in the field of rail and road transportation, both local and transit.

The opening of the Zangazur corridor will allow opening the railway lines of the Julfa district of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan with access to the Iranian railways, connect the corridor through Nakhchivan with Turkish Kars, create Kars-Igdir-Nakhchivan and Nakhchivan-Baku routes. The creation of these routes will also become a convenient way of direct deliveries of Turkish goods to Azerbaijan and back for road transport.
