Uzbekistan Tajikistan talk bilateral co-op in international road transport

The delegations of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan at the talks in Dushanbe discussed a number of practical issues of cooperation aimed at developing transport interconnection between the two countries and the region as a whole, Trend reports referring to Tajik media.

A meeting of representatives of the Ministries of Transport of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan was held at the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan.

In addition to the delegation of the Ministries of Transport of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, representatives of the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security and the Customs Service of Tatarstan took part in the meeting.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in international road transport, development of the Uzbekistan-Tajikistan-China transport corridor, restoration of the Khashtyak-Bekabad cross-border crossing,

In addition, the parties discussed electrification of the Bekabad (Uzbekistan)-Spitamen-Istiklol (Tajikistan) railway section, construction of a new railway on the section Penjikent (Tajikistan) - Bulungur / Jambay (Uzbekistan), as well as the increase of the volume of transit through Bekabad section.

It is reported that as a result of the meeting the parties signed a corresponding protocol in order to expand bilateral cooperation in the field of road and rail transport.
