Number of ships docking at Iran’s Khorramshahr port announced

A total of 45 ships carrying less than 1,000 tons of cargo docked at the Khorramshahr port of the Khuzestan Province (southwestern Iran) in the 1st month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2021), Head of Khorramshahr Ports and Maritime Department, Nourollah Asadi said, Trend reports referring to the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization’s website.

Asadi noted that this is an increase of 221 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year.

The official added that the number of TEU containers loaded and unloaded at the port increased by 54 percent within a month.

“During the mentioned month, 8,770 trucks moved in the port. This shows the cargo transportation in the port is high level,” he said.

Moreover, 92,600 tons of container cargo were loaded and unloaded in the Khorramshahr port over last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021). This is an increase of 18 percent in terms of volume and 146 percent in terms of containers’ number, compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 through March 19, 2020), according to Asadi.

As reported, Iran’s Khorramshahr port covers an area of 230 hectares. There are 20 platforms in this port. The port operates in the field of trade with Iran's countries around the Persian Gulf.
