Cargo movements in Iran’s Imam Khomeini port up

The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port of the Khuzestan Province (southwestern Iran) increased by about 10 percent in the 1st month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2021), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports citing the statistics of the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, a total of 3.46 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port during the reporting month. About 1.82 million tons of cargo were loaded and 1.64 million tons were unloaded.

“Furthermore, 1.77 million tons of cargo were exported and 1.42 million tons were imported through the Imam Khomeini port over the first month. As well as, 20,900 tons of cargo were loaded for transit,” the statistics said.

Within the 1st month, 30,100 tons of cargo were loaded and 198,000 tons were unloaded in the port for cabotage, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, 5,370 tons of cargo were loaded and 5,370 tons were unloaded for transshipment in this port in the first month. Also, 30 tons of cargo were loaded and 8,270 tons of were unloaded for other purposes.

“So, 1.34 million tons of essential products, 191,000 tons of metal products, 364,000 tons of construction and mining materials, 107 tons of equipment, vehicles and spare parts, 147,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port over the 1st month of the current Iranian year,” the statistics said.

Moreover, 143,000 tons of container products, 1.27 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in the port during the mentioned month, the statistics said.

As reported, more than 11 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the first month of the current Iranian year. This is an increase of 14.4 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year.
