Activities in Iran’s Khorramshahr port climb

The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Khorramshahr port of the Khuzestan Province (southwestern Iran) increased by 25 percent in the first month of the current year (March 21 through April 20, 2021), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports citing the statistics of the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, about 210,000 tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in this port during the first month. Of this, 196,000 tons were loaded and 13,900 tons were unloaded.

Over the mentioned month, about 195,000 tons of cargo were exported and 13,500 tons were imported through the Khorramshahr port, the statistics said.

“In addition, 349 tons of cargo were unloaded in the port for transit, as well as, 763 tons of cargo were loaded and 4 tons were unloaded for other purposes within the first month,” the statistics said.

According to the statistics, 5,430 tons of essential products, 16,800 tons of metal products, 172,000 tons of construction materials and mining materials, 2,520 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts were loaded and unloaded in the Khorramshahr port in the 1st month of the current Iranian year.

Moreover, 4 tons of chemicals, 459 tons of leather products, clothing, fibers, paper and wood materials, 12,000 tons of container products and 362 tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in the port during the reporting period, the statistics said.

As reported, more than 11 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the first month of the current Iranian year. This is an increase of 14.4 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year.
