Cargo movements in Iran’s Shahid Rajaee port increase

The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Shahid Rajaee port of the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) increased by 27 percent in the 1st month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2021), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports citing the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, about 5.5 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the port during the first month. So, 3.21 million tons of cargo were loaded and 2.29 million tons were unloaded.

“Furthermore, 2.9 million tons of cargo were exported and 547,000 tons were imported through the Shahid Rajaee port over the reporting month,” the statistics said.

Within the 1st month, 165,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 219,000 tons were unloaded in this port for transit, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, 89,600 tons of cargo were loaded and 1.44 million tons were unloaded in the port for cabotage in the first month.

At the same time, 58,800 tons of cargo were loaded and 52,400 tons were unloaded in the port for transshipment, the statistics said.

“In addition, 1,760 tons of cargo were loaded and 28,500 tons were unloaded in the port for other purposes during first month,” the statistics said.

According to the statistics, about 136,000 tons of essential products, 434,000 tons of metal products, 642,000 tons of construction and mining materials, 3,130 tons of equipment, vehicles and spare parts were loaded and unloaded in the Shahid Rajaee port in the 1st month of the current Iranian year.

“Moreover, 57,400 tons of chemicals, 1,190 tons of leather goods, clothing, fibers, paper and wood materials, 13,100 tons of small and assorted products, 1.34 million tons of container products, 2.87 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in the port within the mentioned month,” the statistics said.

As reported, more than 11 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the first month of the current Iranian year. This is an increase of 14.4 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year.
