Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan eye increasing potential of transport corridor to China

Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan studied the issues of expanding the capacity, rational and effective use of the possibilities of the multimodal transport corridor Uzbekistan – Kyrgyzstan – China, Trend reports referring to Uzbek national news agency.

On May 17 this year Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Makhkamov met with Minister of Transport, Architecture, Construction and Communications of Kyrgyzstan Gulmira Abdralieva.

The representatives of the delegation headed by the ministers of the two countries are carrying out research work along the Osh - Sarytash – Irkeshtam (Kyrgyzstan) highway in order to further develop transport and communication ties between our countries.

In particular, the members of the delegation got acquainted with the activities of the Irkeshtam border customs post.

Also, the ongoing work and existing problems are being studied in order to expand the potential, rational and efficient use of the possibilities of the multimodal transport corridor ‘Kashgar (China) – Irkeshtam (Kyrgyzstan) – Osh (Kyrgyzstan) – Andijan (Uzbekistan) – Tashkent (Uzbekistan)’.

In particular, the delegations visited passes of Chyyrchyk, Taldyk, Tonmurun and the point of Sary-Tash.

It was also noted that the ministers discussed the prospects for cooperation within the framework of agreements on the development and expansion of cooperation between the two countries.
