BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 18

By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

Turkmenistan may become part of a new transport corridor, Trend reports, citing Golden Age electronic newspaper.

The heads of railway departments and diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Iran held talks via video link on the creation of a new railway corridor.

The project involves the organization of container transportation to Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan through the Iranian Bandar Abbas port and back.

To test the effectiveness of the new corridor, representatives of Kyrgyz business were invited to send the volume of goods imported from China, India and Southeast Asian countries to Kyrgyzstan via the new Bandar Abbas-Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan route.

Turkmenistan has extensive experience in the creation and development of large transport and logistics and multimodal projects.

Turkmenistan, together with other countries, is creating multi-vector transit-transport and infrastructure logistics corridors in the East-West and North-South directions
Currently, Turkmenistan is implementing sea, road, rail, air, and pipeline international logistics projects.

The agreements reached on the transport corridors Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman and Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey will help to enhance cooperation within the regions and the continent.
