Volume of oil products loaded-unloaded in western ports of Iran's Hormozgan Province up

The volume of crude oil and oil products loaded and unloaded in the western ports (including, Chark, Aftab, Bandar Lengeh ports, and so on) of the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) increased by 94 percent during the first two months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through May 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director of Ports and Maritime Office of Bandar Lengeh port Ghasem Askari Nasab said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to Askari Nasab, more than 785,000 tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in the ports over the reporting period.

“In addition, more than 530,000 tons of non-oil products were loaded and unloaded in these ports within the two months period. This is an increase of 87 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he added.

The director stressed a total of 1.32 million tons of goods were loaded and unloaded in the ports in the first 2 months. This is an increase of 91 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Askari Nasab noted that 721,000 tons of oil and non-oil products were exported through the ports in the west of Hormozgan Province in two months, which is an increase of 172 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

"So, 431,000 tons of crude oil and oil products and 290,000 tons of non-oil products were exported through these ports. The exports of oil products increased by 271 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year, while exports of non-oil products increased by 95 percent," he said.

The director also added that more than 4,000 ships docked at the western ports of Hormozgan Province within the mentioned period. This is an increase of 142 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. Furthermore, more than 17,800 cars were transited through these ports. Car transit increased by 268 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Askari Nasab emphasized that about 5,390 TEU containers were loaded and unloaded at these ports in the first two months of the current Iranian year, which is an increase of 570 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. Moreover, 181,000 tons of minerals were exported through the ports. This is an increase of 74 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

As reported, the coasts from Iran's Bandar Khamir port to Bushehr Province are under the control of the West Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Department and the length of the coasts is about 575 kilometers. Also, West Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Department is managed by the Ports and Maritime Office of Bandar Lengeh port.
