Turkmenistan is ready to continue the joint implementation of the Transport Corridor Europe Caucasus Asia (TRACECA) documents aimed at expanding the investment opportunities of the transport and transit corridors along Asia - Europe, Europe - Middle East lines, in particular the Lapis-Lazuli Transit, Trade & Transport Route or Lapis Lazuli Corridor and the Caspian–Black Sea Transit Corridor, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The statement was made during a videoconference between Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Commission TRACECA Asset Asavbayev.

Turkmenistan supports projects aimed at harmonization of legislation, improvement of tariff policy, institutional strengthening and development of the transport infrastructure of the Europe-Caucasus-Asia corridor, the report said.

The active role of Turkmenistan in establishing and expanding the transport and transit potential of the region was noted during the meeting. Also, the sides expressed interest in continuing joint events, specialized meetings with the participation of representatives of the transport sector of Turkmenistan.

Currently, Turkmenistan is implementing sea, road, rail, air, and pipeline international logistics projects.

The agreements reached on the transport corridors Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman and Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey will help to enhance cooperation within the regions and the continent.

Also, the highways that have already been built and are under construction in Turkmenistan, including the roads Ashgabat-Karakum-Dashoguz, Turkmenbashi-Ashgabat-Farab, are important in the development of road logistics.

The favorable geographical location of the country provides opportunities for creating a competitive transport macrostructure.
