Volume of cargo loaded-unloaded in Iran’s Imam Khomeini port increases

The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port of the Khuzestan Province (southwestern Iran) increased by about 16 percent in the 2nd month of the current Iranian year (April 21 through May 21, 2021), compared to the 1st month (March 21 through April 20, 2021), Trend reports the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, a total of 4.02 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port in the second month. Of this, about 2.19 million tons were loaded and 1.83 million tons were unloaded.

“Also, 2.07 million tons of cargo were exported and 1.68 million tons were imported through the Imam Khomeini port over the reporting month. As well as, 33,700 tons of cargo were loaded in the port for transit,” the statistics said.

Within the second month, 73,500 tons of cargo were loaded and 132,000 tons were unloaded in the port for cabotage, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, 2,700 tons of cargo were loaded and 4,280 tons were unloaded in this port for transshipment. Also, 1,050 tons of cargo were loaded, and 9,950 tons were unloaded for other purposes.

“So, 1.45 million tons of essential products, 212,000 tons of metal products, 401,000 tons of construction and mining materials, 1.24 tons of equipment, vehicles and spare parts, 273,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port in the 2nd month of the current Iranian year,” the statistics said.

Moreover, 63,300 tons of leather products, clothing, fibers, paper and wood materials, 143,000 tons of container products, 1.48 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in this port over the reporting month, the statistics said.

As reported, about 12.6 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the second month of the current Iranian year. Of this, 7.12 million tons were loaded and 5.47 million tons were unloaded. This is an increase of 17.5 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year.
