Volume of cargo loaded-unloaded in Iran’s Khorramshahr port grows

The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Khorramshahr port of the Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) increased by 13 percent in the 2nd month of the current Iranian year (April 21 through May 21, 2021), compared to the 1st month (March 21 through April 20, 2021), Trend reports citing the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, a total of 238,000 tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the Khorramshahr port in the second month. So, about 228,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 10,500 tons were unloaded in the port.

“About 227,000 tons of cargo were exported and 10,200 tons were imported through the Khorramshahr port over the reporting period,” the statistics said.

Within the second month, 148 tons of cargo were unloaded in this port for transit, as well as, 442 tons were loaded and 162 tons were unloaded for other purposes, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, 7,500 tons of essential products, 25,100 tons of metal products, 193,000 tons of construction and mining materials, 1,480 tons of equipment, vehicles and spare parts were loaded and unloaded in the Khorramshahr port in the 2nd month of the current Iranian year.

“Moreover, 962 tons of chemicals, 1,230 tons of leather goods, clothing, fibers, paper and wood materials, 123 tons of small and assorted products, 8,310 tons of container products were loaded and unloaded in the port,” the statistics said.

As reported, about 12.6 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the second month of the current Iranian year. Of this, 7.12 million tons were loaded and 5.47 million tons were unloaded. This is an increase of 17.5 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year.
