The transit of passenger cars through the Khorramshahr port of the Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) increased by 492 percent from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021) to July 12, compared to the same period last Iranian year, Head of Khorramshahr Ports and Maritime Department, Nourollah Asadi said, Trend reports referring to the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

Asadi stressed that 295 passenger cars were transited within the mentioned period. The cars were transited from the UAE and Kuwait to Iraq.

The official added that a total of 314 passenger cars were unloaded in this port during the reporting period.

“The port of Khorramshahr has a suitable infrastructure for transit to neighboring countries. The coronavirus pandemic has had a negative impact on various fields of trade. However, it did not result in the cessation of car transit,” he said.
