The cargo transportation on the Azerbaijani section of the Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA) had decreased from January through May 2021, Trend reports citing a report of the State Statistical Committee.
According to the source, in the reporting period over 17 million tons of cargo had been transported through the section, down 10.5 percent on annual basis.
In terms of ton kilometrage, the cargo transportation in Azerbaijan amounted to over 4 billion ton-kilometers, which is four percent less compared to a year earlier, the source said.
The volume of goods transported by road totaled 9.5 million tons, or 55.8 percent of the overall volume of cargo transportation, by rail – over 5.5 million tons (32.7 percent), and by the sea – almost two million tons (11.5 percent).
Reportedly, out of the total volume of cargo transportation, transit exceeded 3.98 million tons (23.4 percent).
