Cargo transportation in Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan Province grows

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 31

The volume of cargo transported in the Sistan and Baluchestan Province (south-eastern Iran) increased by 13 percent during the first four months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through July 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director of the Road and Transport Department of Sistan and Baluchestan Province, Mohammad Yasin Ahmadian said, Trend reports citing Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

The director noted that 1.42 million tons of cargo were transported within 83,100 trips in the 4 months.

Ahmadian added that the transported cargo was mainly oil products, cement and construction materials.

"Despite the coronavirus pandemic, cargo is being transported in the province based on health protocols," he said.

Ahmadian emphasized that 69 transport companies are currently operating in Sistan and Baluchestan Province. These companies have 8,460 drivers and 6,320 trucks under operating. There are 3 cargo terminals for cargo transportation in the province.
