Uzbekistan Airways talks advantages of hybrid air transportation model (Exclusive)

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 9

By Fakhri Vakilov – Trend:

The reason for the transition of Uzbekistan Airways to a hybrid model of air transportation was an increase in the efficiency of air transportation and the actual number of passengers carried, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Airways - Director of Commerce and Tourism Shukhrat Khudaykulov told Trend.

Recently it was reported that Uzbekiston Havo Yollari announced a transition to a hybrid model of air transportation - some flights will be operated on the principle of full service, and some on the principle of a low-cost airline.

“This model of air transportation was considered for a long time. We carried out calculations and consultations before making this decision,” said Khudaykulov.

The advantages of such a model for consumers of Uzbekistan Airways services are a reduction in cost in a number of popular destinations. Moreover, Khudaykulov noted that the airline retains the minimum requirements for creating a comfortable flight - hand luggage weighing no more than 5 kilograms and, at the request of the consumer himself, it is possible to purchase a fare with included baggage weighing no more than 15 kilograms. On more distant routes, a reduced meal in the form of a sandwich is also served.

“For Uzbekistan Airways, it is undoubtedly an important principle of maintaining comfort for its passengers, therefore, even with a hybrid model of air transportation, the airline managed to create the most comfortable conditions than classic low-cost airlines,” he said.

Furthermore, due to the application of this model, the transportation of the largest number of passengers is expected, which, as expected in the future, will demonstrate a fairly good economic component for the airline as a whole.

He noted that for the transport industry as a whole, this model is designed to create the best and most comfortable conditions for the mobility of the population of Uzbekistan both within the country and abroad. In many ways, it is air traffic that is the safest mode of transport, and the development of this direction will fully satisfy the needs for mobility, while observing all safety standards under the most budgetary and comfortable conditions.

Khudaykulov also spoke about future projects of Uzbekistan Airways.

“At this stage, Uzbekistan Airways sets itself the goal of creating the best conditions for passenger air transportation. The airline has already planned to introduce two more aircraft in full economy class modification in the near future. As a result, the airline's fleet will have four such airliners in total.”

Of course, after the full launch of the hybrid air transportation model, Uzbekistan Airways aims to open new routes and increase the number of flights to existing destinations.
