Iran eyes increase in passenger transportation via Yazd Shahid Sadooghi Airport

The number of passengers transported via the Yazd Shahid Sadoogi International Airport in the Yazd Province (central Iran) increased by 14 percent, during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, as was reflected in the statistics of Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company (IAC), Trend reports.

According to the statistics, a total of 246,232 passengers were transported through the Yazd Shahid Sadoogi International Airport in 7 months. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 216,804.

“Within 7 months, 1,725 tons of cargo were transported through this airport. Cargo transportation increased by 36 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, 1,270 tons of cargo had been transported via the airport in the same period last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

In general, 3,560 flights were carried out from the Yazd Shahid Sadoogi International Airport over seven months, which is an increase of 34 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. Thus, the number of flights for the same period last Iranian year amounted to 2,666.

Reportedly, Iran's Yazd Shahid Sadoogi International Airport is located on an area of 575 hectares.
