The volume of cargo transported through the Persian Gulf International Airport in the Bushehr Province (southern Iran) increased by 18 percent, during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, as was reflected in the statistics of Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company (IAC), Trend reports.
According to the statistics, 2,884 tons of cargo were transported through the airport for the reporting period. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 2,436 tons.
“Moreover, 416,534 passengers were transported through the Persian Gulf International Airport within eight months. Passenger transportation increased by 14 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, the figure amounted to 366,522 in the same period last Iranian year,” the statistics said.
Over 8 months, a total of 4,655 flights (passenger planes only) were carried out from the airport, which is an increase of 19 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. Thus, 3,914 flights had been carried out from the airport in the same period last Iranian year.
The Persian Gulf International Airport covers an area of about 700 hectares and can receive more than 1 million passengers a year.
