Cargo movements in Iranian ports up

The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports increased by 14.3 percent in the 11th month of the current Iranian year (January 21 through February 19, 2022), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, about 12.6 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the reporting month. Of this, 6.11 million tons were loaded and 6.49 million tons were unloaded.

“More than 3.85 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 11-th month, which is an increase of 7 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, 2.05 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and 1.8 million tons were unloaded. The loaded products decreased by 4.5 percent, while unloaded products increased by 23.8 percent, compared to the same month of the last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

In addition, 2.39 million tons of essential products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports within the mentioned month, which is an increase of 35.8 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 143,000 tons were loaded and 2.25 million tons were unloaded.

According to the statistics, about 899,000 tons of metal products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the 11th month, which is an increase of 1.1 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 810,000 tons were loaded and about 89,000 tons were unloaded.

“At the same time, about 2.18 million tons of construction and mining materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the reporting month. This is a decrease of 9.3 percent, compared to the same month of the last Iranian year. Of this, 2 million tons were loaded and 183,000 tons were unloaded,” the statistics said.

Within the 11th month, 47,000 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports. This is an increase of 77.8 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 10,800 tons were loaded and 36,200 tons were unloaded.

According to the statistics, 326,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 11th month of the current Iranian year, which is a decrease of 1.3 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 178,000 tons were loaded and about 148,000 tons were unloaded.

Furthermore, about 141,000 tons of leather, clothing, fiber, paper, and wood materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the 11th month, which is an increase of 124.3 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, 3,560 tons of goods were loaded and 138,000 tons were unloaded.

A total of 871,000 tons of small and assorted products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the same month. The loaded/unloaded products increased by 40.4 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, about 397,000 tons were loaded and 474,000 tons were unloaded, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, 1.89 million tons of container products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 11th month, which is an increase of 8.8 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, about 905,000 tons of container products were loaded and 986,000 tons were unloaded.

Moreover, about 5.33 million tons of goods were exported and 3.52 million tons were imported through Iranian ports in the 11th month of the current Iranian year.

Also, 449,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 300,000 tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for transit within the mentioned month.

According to the statistics, 572,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 2.09 million tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for cabotage in the 11th month. Also, 137,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 146,000 tons were unloaded for transshipment.

“Over the 11th month, about 6,800 tons of cargo were loaded and 54,500 tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for other purposes,” the statistics said.
