BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 6. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports increased by 17.5 percent, in the 2nd month of the current Iranian year (April 21 through May 21, 2022), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, about 12.6 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the reporting month. Of this, 5.47 million tons were loaded and 7.12 million tons were unloaded.

“About 4.66 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 2nd month, which is an increase of 37.5 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, about 1.79 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and 2.87 million tons were unloaded. The loaded products increased by 47.5 percent, and unloaded products by 32 percent, compared to the same month of last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

In addition, 2.3 million tons of essential products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports within the mentioned month, which is a decrease of 11.9 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 185,000 tons were loaded and 2.12 million tons were unloaded.

According to the statistics, about 815,000 tons of metal products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the 2nd month, which is an increase of 133 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 761,000 tons were loaded and about 53,200 tons were unloaded.

“At the same time, about 1.89 million tons of construction and mining materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the reporting month. This is an increase of 21.6 percent, compared to the same month of last Iranian year. Of this, 1.78 million tons were loaded and 111,000 tons were unloaded,” the statistics said.

Within the 2nd month, 38,500 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports. This is an increase of 67 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 6,280 tons were loaded and 32,200 tons were unloaded.

According to the statistics, 360,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 2nd month of the current Iranian year, which is a decrease of 31.1 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 260,000 tons were loaded and about 100,000 tons were unloaded.

Furthermore, about 100,000 tons of leather, clothing, fiber, paper, and wood materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the 2nd month, which is an increase of 10.7 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, 1,940 tons of goods were loaded and 98,400 tons were unloaded.

Over 439,000 tons of small and assorted products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the same month. The loaded/unloaded products decreased by 4.2 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, about 214,000 tons were loaded and 225,000 tons were unloaded, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, 1.97 million tons of container products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 2nd month, which is an increase of 15.8 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, about 1.04 million tons of container products were loaded and 933,000 tons were unloaded.

Moreover, about 6.38 million tons of goods were exported and 2.93 million tons were imported through Iranian ports in the 2nd month of the current Iranian year.

Also, 154,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 341,000 tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for transit within the mentioned month.

According to the statistics, 472,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 2.01 million tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for cabotage in the 2nd month. Also, 103,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 114,000 tons were unloaded for transshipment.

“Over the 2nd month, about 7,230 tons of cargo were loaded and 69,300 tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for other purposes,” the statistics said.
