BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 15. The number of cars transited through Iran’s northern ports increased by 60 percent, during the first two months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through May 21, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Managing Director of Iran’s Khazar Sea Shipping Lines Company Davood Tafti told Trend.

The director noted that a total of 1,064 cars were transited through Iran’s northern ports in two months.

“Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 664 cars,” he added.

In total, 4,476 cars were transited through ports in northern Iran over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021, through March 20, 2022), according to Tafti.

The official also pointed out that car transit increased by 211 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021).

“Thus, 1,437 cars were transited through Iran’s northern ports for the preceding Iranian year,” Tafti said.

Car transit in northern Iran is carried out mainly through the Amirabad, Anzali, Astara, Noshahr and Caspian ports.
