Russia likely to increase cargo transit via Iran

TEHRAN, Iran, June 22. Russia is likely to increase cargo transit via the Iran route and using the International North–South Transportation Corridor (INSTC), said the secretary of Shipping Association of Iran Masoud Palmeh, Trend reports citing ILNA.

He pointed out that Iran's cargo transit has increased despite limitations for transit via roads, railway, and sea. Russia's imports and exports via the Iran route have increased.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak had recently held talks with Iranian officials over logistics and revival of the INSTC, establishing railway, maritime, and road connections to increase cargo transit.

According to Palmeh, Iran will dispatch a delegation to Russia to complete the negotiations and reach a good agreement for cargo transit cooperation.
