BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 25. The volume of cargo transported from Iran’s Ardabil Province (north-western Iran), increased by about 5 percent, during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of the Road and Transport Department of Iran’s Ardabil Province, Kalimollah Vosughi said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

According to Vosughi, 1.8 million tons of cargo were transported from the province in 5 months. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at about 1.7 million tons.

The director general added that the cargo was transported mainly from Ardabil, Parsabad, Namin and Bilasuvar counties of the province. The transported goods were mainly cement, watermelon, wheat, mineral water, construction materials and etc.

“There are 90 companies operating in cargo transportation in Ardabil Province. More than 12,000 drivers work in these companies. At the same time, there are 13,550 trucks and 2 cargo terminals in the province,” he said.
