Aktau is hosting the international investment forum 'Creation of new industries in Western Kazakhstan'.
Around 500 delegates from 35 world countries including high-ranking officials, heads of international and Kazakh oil companies, equipment manufacturers, service companies, representatives of foreign chambers of commerce and different associations are attending.
"Much preparatory work has been recently conducted to clarify the needs and priorities of Western Kazakhstan, adviser to the chairman of KazMunaiGas national company board, Lord Waverley said today. "This region of the country which is Kazakhstan's major energy corridor deserves a lot of attention."
"The mechanisms, improving the level of professionalism and skills and an increasing production base in Kazakhstan are part of a strategy to develop the country's potential," he said.
"They include creating a favourable atmosphere and agreements on cooperation with the elements of technology knowledge transfer and investment companies, participants of the global supply network for the Kazakh oil and gas sector, as well as action in response to the current challenges and emerging opportunities to create new jobs in Western Kazakhstan," Waverley said.
