Kazakh National Bank records fall in foreign currency assets

The gross international reserves of the National Bank of Kazakhstan amounted to $32.5 billion in September 2017, recording a decrease at the level of 0.3%.

The Bank assets in foreign currency decreased by 0.4% (or by $74.5 million) to $20.6 billion, assets in gold decreased by 0.2% (or by $21.4 million) to $12 billion as a result of operations and a 1.4%-decrease in its price.

As of late September, the international reserves of the country as a whole, including the assets of the National Fund in foreign currency ($ 56.8 billion), amounted to $ 89.4 billion.

In September 2017, the exchange rate of the national currency tenge fluctuated in the range of 334.29-341.61 tenge per USD. As of late September 2017, the exchange rate of the tenge to the USD was 341.19 KZT / USD, weakening by 1.2% in the month.

The figure fall by 2.4% from the beginning of the year.

The total volume of operations on the KZT / USD currency pair in September 2017 amounted to 1$5.0 billion (an increase of 1.1%), including the volume of exchange trades on the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange -$3.4 billion (a decrease of 12.2%), the volume of operations in the over-the-counter foreign exchange market was $11.6 billion (an increase of 5.7%) .

The net purchase of cash US dollars in exchange offices hit $ 555.4 million (decrease for the month by 36.7%).

The official exchange rate for October 25 is 334.94 KZT / USD.
