Uzbekistan and Afghanistan signed 20 documents and more than 40 export contracts following the talks between Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Afghan President Ashraf Gani on Dec.5, the Uzbek leader's press service reported. Ghani arrived in the country on Dec.4.

The two leaders firstly met in narrow format, and later were joined by the delegations. The sides mulled topical issues of cooperation between the two countries, and had an exchange of views on regional and international issues, in particular, combating terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking, and strengthening security in Central Asia.

After the talks, the presidents of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan signed a Joint Statement.

The delegations of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan also signed 20 documents aimed at further strengthening cooperation in the political, trade-economic, investment, transport-communication, scientific, educational and other spheres.

The sides particularly signed documents on the establishment of a joint commission on security issues, provision of legal assistance in civil, family and criminal cases, the construction of the Surkhan-Puli Khumri transmission line, the Mazari-Sharif-Shibirgan-Maymana-Herat railway, the interaction in the field of cargo transportation and customs .

Furthermore, more than 40 export contracts were signed for a total amount of over $ 500 million within the framework of the visit.
