Three people were killed in a coal mine explosion in central Kazakhstan Sunday night, the Emergency Situations Ministry said Monday, Xinhua reported.
The Interfax news agency reported that a total of 94 workers were working in the coal mine in Karaganda state when the blast struck.
Ninety miners have been lifted up to safety. Rescue work is underway as one miner is still trapped underground.
