Azerbaijan , Baku, 14 June/ Trend/
The Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Collective Security Treaty Organization signed a memo of understanding within Kazakhstan's SCO chairmanship in Astana, Kazinform reported.
The document was signed by Director of the SCO RATS Executive Committee Dzhenisbek Dzhumanbekov and CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha.
Joint efforts of the two organizations will raise the efficiency of resistance to the terrorist and extremism threat in the Central Asia region, Bordyuzha said at the signing ceremony.
"Fight against terrorist and extremist activities in the Central Asian region is the main challenge of the CSTO," Itar-Tass quoted Bordyuzha as saying.
"We understand the complexity of this issue. Almost all member-states of SCO and CSTO have faced terrorist attacks and victims among the civil population in recent years," he said. "Therefore, the opportunity of interaction on a scheduled basis means increasing efficiency of our joint efforts."
