Kazakh writer Oljas Suleimenov to remain under medical supervision

Kazakhstan's Permanent Representative to UNESCO Oljas Suleimenov, who was hospitalized due to hypertensic crisis, will be under the supervision of doctors for 3-4 days, Director of the National Scientific Medical Center Abay Baygenzhin told Trend over telephone.

Kazakhstan's Permanent Representative to UNESCO Oljas Suleimenov, who was hospitalized due to hypertensic crisis, will be under the supervision of doctors for 3-4 days, Director of the National Scientific Medical Center Abay Baygenzhin told Trend over telephone.

"Suleimenov feels better and his blood pressure returned to normal," he said.

However, he said, Suleimenov will remain under the care for 3-4 days.

The 75-year old Suleimenov was hospitalized during the regional meeting of Central Asian National Commissions of UNESCO in Astana on Monday.

In 1989, he became the initiator and leader of the Nevada Semipalatinsk popular movement, the goal of which was to close down the Semipalatinsk Nuclear Test Site and other nuclear sites worldwide. He has been acting as permanent representative of Kazakhstan to UNESCO in Paris since 2002.
