About 42 bln tenge to be allocated to Kazakh research and development

A total of 42 billion tenge will be allocated to the scientific research and development work in 2012, head of Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund Timur Kulibayev said while opening a conference on innovation development.

At present, the funds for research and development from Samruk-Kazyna's six largest companies (KazMunayGas, Kazahstantemirzholy, Kazatomprom, Kazakhtelecom, Samruk-Energy and KEGOC) total 8 billion tenge ($ 1 - 147, 7 tenge), or almost a quarter of all expenses on research in Kazakhstan.

"According to the decision of Samruk-Kazyna these companies funds will amount to 42 billion tenge or increase by five times next year," Kulibayev said.

He said that this index can reach 72 billion tenge by 2015.
