Kazakhstan to increase tariffs for railway services

Kazakh National Company "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" intends to increase tariffs for services of railway network by 10 percent with an overall increase of railway tariff by 15 percent from Jan. 1, 2012, the company said Monday.

Kazakh National Company "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" intends to increase tariffs for services of railway network by 10 percent with an overall increase of railway tariff by 15 percent from Jan. 1, 2012, the company said Monday.

"The increase is a planned and envisaged as an annual," the company said.

Due to the increase of tariffs for railway network services over 600 km of the railway will be repaired, 2,699 freight wagons and 134 locomotives will be purchased and it will allow completing the electrification of 46 km of railway on the Kostanay-Zhelezorudnaya section, the report says.
