Kazakhstan considers Korea as its leading partner, Ambassador at Large of the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dulat Bakishev said at the 5th Cooperation Forum "The Republic of Korea-Central Asia", KAZINFORM reported.

"The 20th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea will be celebrated in January 2012," Bakishev said. "Our countries laid a foundation of mutually beneficial relations over this period."

According to Bakishev, the leaders of the two states made great contribution to this process.

Kazakhstan and Korea pay special attention to interregional cooperation, exchange in science and education, culture and sports. The countries have a great cooperation in energy sphere. Kazakhstan is a large supplier of uranium to South Korea.

"Kazakhstan and Korea have great prospects of implementation of joint projects for the development of alternative and renewable energy," Bakishev said.

According to Bakishev, a joint work within Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) is a good example of close cooperation between the countries.
