Kazakhstan, Astana, Nov. 18 / Trend K. Konyrova /

There will not be a transit tariff between the countries of the Common Economic Space from January 1, 2013. A common tariff will be used, Kazakh Vice Minister of Transport and Communications Azat Bekturov said.

"The transit tariff from the third and to the third country remains," he told Trend. "As a result, there will be two tariffs: a unified for the Common Economic Space and transit for third countries."

He recalled that at present, tariffs are divided into export, import, domestic and transit.
"The unification means uniting all three tariffs into one unified tariff and to protect our national interests, to reduce the tariff burden on our shippers and our economy as a whole," he said. Each party of the Common Economic Space will have its level of a unified tariff."

At present sending cargo from Kazakhstan to Russia or Belarus, a Kazakh shipper pays an export tariff on Kazakhstan territory and an import one for Russia and Belarus.

"After the unification, Kazakh shippers will pay the cost of transportation in accordance with a uniform tariff in the territory of Russia and Belarus," Mr. Bekturov said.
