The Kazakh opposition has today urged the country's authorities to conduct an impartial investigation into the mass riots that took place in the Zhanaozen city yesterday.

The opposition Nationwide Social Democratic Party of Kazakhstan (NSDP) in its statement urged to create an extraordinary commission for a full and impartial investigation into the events, with announcing the results of its work.

As a result of mass riots, the city akimat building, hotels, administrative building of "Ozenmunaigaz" were set on fire, property of physical and legal entities were damaged, cars were set on fire, Kazakh Prosecutor General's Office said. According to official data, 10 people became victims of the riots, there are also injured peoples.

An operative investigative group headed by the Kazakh Interior Minister Kalmukhanbet Kasimov left for Zhanaozen to investigate the accident.
