Today Kazakhstan needs new foreign technologies rather than foreign investments, Novosti-Kazakhstan quotes Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev as saying in an interview with "Russia 24" TV channel on Wednesday.

"We have not great need in foreign investments, as the country has great reserves and we are investing our own money," Nazarbayev said.

According to the President, Kazakhstan has attracted $160 billion of foreign investments in the years of independence, but now Kazakhstan wants to attract new technologies rather than money.

"But nobody wants to create competitors for himself and give the technology," Nazarbayev said.

According to the President, the former Soviet Union's countries fell behind the Western technology by 30-40 years. Integration of post-Soviet countries' scientists can address this issue, Nazarbayev believes.

"The current crisis will be followed by technology boom, which will create a new economy. And we should participate in it. It will be a green eco-friendly economy," Nazarbayev said.
