A regular meeting of dissent takes place in Kazakh city of Almaty on Saturday, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported. Roughly 200-250 people took place in the meeting.

The rally participants demanded to stop the trial against the rioters in Zhanaozen and Shetpe.

Mass riots hit the Kazakh oil city of Zhanaozen in Mangystau region on Dec.16. According to the Kazakh General Attorney Office, 14 people were killed as a result and 64 injured by fire. Buildings and cars were burned and the property of individuals and institutions destroyed. On December 17, 2011 a group of people blocked the railway traffic, dismantled road and damaged transport infrastructure at the Shetpe station of Mangistau region. The normal operation of railway transport was interrupted as a result.

Moreover the participants of Almaty rally demanded to release "political prisoners" and find perpetrators of the attack on opposition journalist Lukpan Ahmedyarov, which occurred last week.

The meeting was supported by a number of public associations and groups. Opposition parties' leaders did not take part in the rally this time.

The opposition has organized a number of unauthorized rallies since the beginning of 2012.

The next meeting of dissent is scheduled for June 2.
