Azerbaijan, Baku, Aug. 27 / Trend E. Kosolapova/

Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (Kazakh railways) has increased passenger transportation by 11.7 percent since early 2012, the company reported on Monday.

In this period Kazakh Railways transported 13,730,131 people compared to12,293,332 passengers transported in the same period of 2011.

The increase in passenger transportation resulted from launching new routes, optimizing inefficient routes, reducing long-distance trains' travel time, train fleet renewal, introducing electronic tickets and other new activities aimed at service improvement.
