A decree has been signed to appoint Former Vice Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Serik Akhmetov to the post of new Prime Minister, member of Majlis (representative of the lower house of parliament) Murat Abenov wrote on his Twitter account.
"A decree has been signed on Akhmetov's appointment! Congratulations," Abenov wrote.
Earlier, another member of Majlis, Mukhtar Tinikeev wrote on his Twitter account about the unanimous support of the Majilis to Akhmetov's candidacy.
"Candidacy of the new prime minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, S. Akhmetov was unanimously supported by all three factions in the Majlis," Tinikeev wrote.
Earlier, Prime Minister Karim Masimov resigned. His resignation was accepted by the president.
