Kazakh Atyrau city's investigating bodies published the names of people who had participated in fighting in Afghanistan on the side of the Mujahideen and led the terrorist underground in Kazakhstan, Kazinform reported.

According to special services, the terrorist names are Nurlan Alipov, Armand Batyrhayrov, Rustem Zhumabayev, Damir Znaliyav, Eldos Kunshugarov, Urynbasar Munatov, Marat Utegaliyev Rinat Habidolla and Usen Chilmanov.

The above-mentioned people created a conspiratorial terrorist group 'Kazakh Islamic Jihad' in 2008 in Atyrau and attracted young Salafis of Atyrau region to these group.

In 2008-2011, all nine group founders left Kazakhstan, mainly as mercenaries in the Afghan province of North Waziristan. In the summer of 2011, they united in an international terrorist organization called 'Jund al-Khilafah' ('Soldiers of the Caliphate'), and continued to lead the Atyrau terrorist groups.

According to investigation materials, the radical Salafist underground in Atyrau was quite secretive and well-established. Thus, the group was able to commit some acts of terrorism, regional newspaper 'Ak Zhayik' reported.

On April 2, 2012 Atyrau city court sentenced all the members of the terrorist group to 6-11 years in prison.
