The fourth joint five-sided meeting of the port administrations of the Caspian littoral countries has been held in the Kazakh city of Aktau today, lada.kz. publication reported today.

The delegations from Russia, Iran, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan attended the meeting.

The safety of navigation in the waters of sea ports was discussed. Much attention was paid to the tasks to ensure comprehensive safety and sustainability of ports' activity, including increasing the maritime safety and reducing the harmful effects of transport on the environment.

The measures of increasing the cargo turnover and attracting transit cargoes through the development of liner shipping, and the country's plans on the construction and modernization of port infrastructure were also discussed.

The participants of the meeting discussed the complex of services in the ports of the Caspian Sea (bunkering, supplies, slight repair, time and cost), and the need to harmonize the technological processes of servicing the ships at port-correspondent.

Special attention was paid to the development of Caspian logic non-profit information system. The web resource will ensure a direct access and exchange the information between shippers and shipping lines, port and other transport organizations involved in rendering the services in the cargo transportation in the Caspian Sea.

The participants of the meeting signed a multilateral memorandum.

Following the meeting, a decision will be made to develop and implement the measures to resolve the problems discussed during the meeting. The multilateral agreements were fixed in the protocols.

The next five-sided meeting is planned to be held in Baku in 2013.
