Djibouti hosts 39th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which summarized the results of Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the organization on November 15, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry said.
Minister Erlan Idrisov said the main attention was paid to the modernization of the Islamic world, increasing its competitiveness and socio-economic progress, strengthening the role of the OIC in the international arena and the development of dialogue between civilizationsduring Kazakhstan's chairmanship.
"A total of 40 events, including 10 at the ministerial level were held during the Astana chairmanship, activity of various organs of the OIC increased," Idrisov said.
In particular, such major events as the 7th World Islamic Economic Forum, the third Conference of the Ministers of Health of the OIC, the fifth meeting of the Ministers of the Environment were held under the auspices of Kazakhstan
During this period $500 million in humanitarian aid to Somalia was also collected, which can be called the biggest success, Idrisov said.
It is decided to establish a new institute of Organization - OIC Office on Food Security in Astana on the initiative of Kazakhstan in the course of the forum.

Significant backlog of cooperation during the chairmanship of Kazakhstan in the OIC is also made in the sphere of cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank - Country Partnership Strategy started with the IDB, which opens the opportunity to raise significant funds for various projects in Kazakhstan, as well as the creation of a fund for small and medium businesses.
"Astana has initiated a number of steps for internal reform of OIC; deepen its cooperation with the EU, OSCE, SCO, CICA and with the Forum of world and traditional religions. The Muslim community initiatives of Kazakhstan in the field of nuclear non-proliferation and normalization of the situation in Afghanistan, the development of G-Global, and also on the interaction of the G-20 received the support," Idrisov said.
It was also decided to establish an independent permanent commission of OIC on Human Rights.
"OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, Djibouti President Ismail Omar Gelle, the foreign ministers of the OIC Member States praised the presidency of Kazakhstan in the OIC and noted the relevance of initiatives proposed by President Nursultan Nazarbayev " the ministry said.
Kazakhstan chaired the OIC in the period from June 28, 2011 to November 15, 2012. Currently Djibouti became the president of the organization.
