Preliminary results have been announced on the investigation concerning the crash of military transport aircraft AN-72 of Border Patrol in Kazakhstan. The investigation is being conducted by interagency investigative team led by the Special Prosecutor of the Chief Military Prosecutor's Office.
As Kazakh General Prosecutor's Office spokesman Nurdaulet Suindikov noted at the briefing collected materials suggest that a combination of several factors caused the plane crash.
In particular, these factors include a problem with the aircraft airborne equipment, the crew commander errors in piloting the plane and adverse weather conditions.
"These factors are confirmed by the inference of the investigative committee," Suindikov said.
He said the investigation will give legal assessment to the actions of ground services and the command of the military unit owning the aircraft, regarding their compliance with the flight regulations.
AN-72 airplane that belonged to the border troops of Kazakhstan's National Security Committee (KNB) crashed on December 25 around 19:00 near the city of Shymkent in Kazakhstan killing all 27 people on board. The acting director of the Frontier Service of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan, Colonel Turganbek Stambekov was among the killed people.
