Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani held a meeting on the sidelines of meeting of the SCO member-states council, Kazakh presidential press-service reported.

"The parties discussed prospects of intensification of the bilateral cooperation in economy, trade, transport, logistics and investment spheres," the press-service said.

The presidents also discussed the implementation of the agreements reached within Nazarbayev's visit to Iran, regional security and international agenda.

"Kazakhstan is ready to continue active participation in resolving the situation around the Iranian nuclear program. Moreover, we are interested in the development of our cooperation in transport and communication sphere, in particular, in railway transportations. The common heritage of our countries is the Caspian Sea, which should be a sea of ​​friendship and cooperation. We should continue working to determine its legal status," Nazarbayev said.

According to Kazakh President, the peace and security in the region is important for all the countries.

Rouhani in turn said that Kazakhstan is Iranian friend and a very important partner.

"We have a huge potential for cooperation. It is very important to develop not only bilateral trade and economic ties, but also the interaction of our countries in the field of culture," he said.
