Chairman of the Majilis (lower chamber of parliament) of Kazakhstan, head of the Nur Otan party faction, Nurlan Nigmatulin proposed to revise the tax on cars with an engine capacity of more than 4,000 cubic centimetres, for increasing the tax.

"Supporting the revision of the tax rate on transport vehicles with an engine capacity of 3,000 to 4,000 cubic centimetres, we offer: to increase the tax rate to 130 monthly calculation index (MCI) for vehicles with an engine capacity of 4,000 to 5,000 cubic centimetres, and to 200 MCI for vehicles with an engine capacity of more than 5000 cubic centimetres. And in order not to infringe the interests of ordinary citizens of our country - usually the owners of inexpensive used cars - we offer to implement all new tax rates to vehicles that will be purchased from January 1, 2014. That is, to leave the old tax rate on the previously purchased vehicles," Nurlan Nigmatulin said on Friday at a meeting of the faction.

Touching upon the real estate tax, the chairman of Majilis proposed to eliminate the raising coefficient and replace it with a more fair approach.

"Regarding to a multiplying coefficient, we believe that it is necessary to replace it with a more just approach, that is, depending on the cost of housing. This will especially be fair for the taxation of expensive housing. Because according to your version it turns out that the owner of the 350 square meters house and the owner of a 3,500 square meters house pay the same tax. All of these are present in a tabular version as a proposal. We believe that it should be considered," Nigmatulin said.
